Someone must have made two baskets in a row, because it is heating up out there! Above average temperatures today will begin to push closer to records this weekend. Heat is a big weather threat, and one we're familiar with, but it can be beaten by planning for it ahead of time!

Temps running above normal this weekend.

WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temp) and "Heat Risk" are two methods we use to measure heat stress on the human body.

Both are indicating higher levels of hazardous heat than the typical early June day.

Sunny skies will bring warm temperatures and rain free conditions through the weekend. Highs will top out each day in the low to mid 90s over the interior, and mid 80s to low 90s near the coast.

This week's US Drought Monitor does show some improvement in the drought conditions thanks to the widespread rain last weekend into early this week. However, little if any rain is forecast for the next 7 days. More local details can be found at https://www.weather.gov/tbw/DroughtInformationStatement #flwx

High pressure will hold over the region through early next week with hot afternoon temperatures and little if any rainfall. These temperatures combined with the humidity will make it feel more like 100 to 105 over inland areas. #flwx

We are still a couple of weeks away from the start of the Atlantic hurricane season on June 1, but the NHC has started issuing the routine Atlantic basin Tropical Weather Outlook. The tropics look quiet for the next 7 days. Visit http://hurricanes.gov for updates. #flwx

Warm and sunny conditions will continue through at least early next week, with high temperatures each afternoon in the low to mid 90s over the interior and upper 80s to low 90s near the coast.

Sunny skies will bring highs in the mid 80s to around 90 today. Temperatures will then warm up each day through the rest of the week, with low to mid 90s expected by the end of the week.

After a rainy weekend and start to the workweek, we will be getting back into a dry pattern, with temperatures climbing through the rest of the week.

Ample cloud coverage and rain kept most of our area from getting above 82 degrees...meanwhile, Grand Forks International Airport broke its daily record with 97 degrees.
