Morning showers south, then decreasing clouds. Breezy and cooler with highs from around 40 northwest to the mid 50s far south. Clear tonight with a widespread hard freeze with lows from the upper teens northwest to the mid 20s southeast. Sunny Friday with highs in the 40s.

Light rain is starting to move through portions of Central AL this evening. Most of this activity has been very light so far. Increasing rain chances overnight tonight before clearing out by late morning to early afternoon tomorrow. #alwx

Today will be dry with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Tonight, rain will move into the east before midnight, spreading through the area through the early morning. Rainfall may be widespread, but accumulation totals should be light. Lows will be in the upper 30s to mid 40s.

Cold weather is expected to continue this week with a hard freeze possible tonight, Friday, and again Saturday morning. Check on elderly or vulnerable neighbors, bring pets indoors, let faucets drip to prevent frozen pipes, and keep flammable objects 3ft from space heaters. #alwx

Heat indices will be around 105 degrees across much of the area today. Stay hydrated and take plenty of breaks if you'll be spending a good deal of time outdoors. Scattered afternoon-evening showers and storms will develop again today, providing some areas with heat relief.

Today's maintenance on the Brandon radar concluded the first portion of scheduled maintenance and KDGX is expected to be operational through tonight. Tomorrow, 6/29, the radar will be out of service once more as maintenance is completed. ESTIMATED OUTAGE: 8 AM CDT until 4 PM CDT.

Our radar in Brandon, MS (KDGX) will be down for maintenance through 4:30 PM today. In the meantime, we will be using data from surrounding radar sites for weather observations and warning operations. Normal operations should resume around 4:30 PM today. #mswx #lawx #arwx

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop again late this morning through the afternoon. High temperatures will be in the low to mid 90s with heat index values of 100 to 106 degrees.

Low temperatures tonight will range from 71 to 74 degrees inland areas, and from 74 to 78 degrees closer to the coast. These temperatures are about 2 to 6 degrees above normal. Isolated showers and storms are expected across SE Mississippi and SW Alabama through mid-evening.

Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible today through this evening over Northeast TX, Southeast OK, Southwest AR, and portions of Northwest LA, with damaging winds the main threat. Brief heavy rainfall will also be possible, which may produce minor flooding.

Hot and humid conditions will again return to the area today, although scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms will increase this morning through the afternoon, which will bring some relief to the heat. Look for temperatures to range from the upper 80s to lower 90s.

This week's US Drought Monitor does show some improvement in the drought conditions thanks to the widespread rain last weekend into early this week. High pressure will hold over the region through early next week with hot afternoon temperatures and little if any rainfall. These temperatures combined with the humidity will make it feel more like 100 to 105 over inland areas. #flwx

Warm and sunny conditions will continue through at least early next week, with high temperatures each afternoon in the low to mid 90s over the interior and upper 80s to low 90s near the coast.

Sunny skies will bring highs in the mid 80s to around 90 today. Temperatures will then warm up each day through the rest of the week, with low to mid 90s expected by the end of the week.

After a rainy weekend and start to the workweek, we will be getting back into a dry pattern, with temperatures climbing through the rest of the week.

Ample cloud coverage and rain kept most of our area from getting above 82 degrees...meanwhile, Grand Forks International Airport broke its daily record with 97 degrees.
